COLD WATER HOKEY POKEY PROTOCOL

Cold showers can be very beneficial and can elevate mood, improve inflammation and provide all the benefits of cold water immersion in the comfort of your home. They also require very little cost, training. or equipment. Many people however, are reluctant to do cold water immersion because it can be uncomfortable - even though experiencing voluntary discomfort provides part of the benefit.

The “Cold Water Hokey Pokey” makes taking a cold shower easy and fun. This simple routine can be introduced gradually by including one verse at a time and the focus on breathing calmly ensures you remain relaxed and comfortable and get to overcome procrastination while experiencing the benefits of cold water.

The Cold Water Hokey Pokey

Enjoy a warm shower

Then turn the water temperature up, till your body is hot and flushed

Then commit to a cold shower (this decision is the hardest part and exercises your will power)

Then turn the hot water off and the cold water on and just wet your left foot . . .  and then your leg.

Then wet your right foot, then your leg, then your left hand and arm, and then your other hand and arm. 

Continue breathing calmly and smile to yourself (cause that’s what it’s all about) 

Then take a big breath in and as you slowly sigh out loud, put your left side in,

Then put your right side in, then your font side in, then turn yourself around 

Continue breathing calmly and smile to yourself (cause that’s what it’s all about) 

Then put you whole head in, move your head around, stand still, get a drenching, slowly turn yourself around 

Continue breathing calmly and smile to yourself (cause that’s what it’s all about)

Then sing the hokey pokey song and with each “hokey pokey”, direct the water on your groin, your armpits and your kidneys 

Continue breathing calmly and smile to yourself (cause that’s what it’s all about) 

You can then step out of the shower and face the day having done a full body workout while singing and dancing.

You will be left feeling confident and refreshed and ready for anything the day might bring
